For most of us here at InfoLogix and HIA, when you say “Big Bang” the thoughts don’t turn to a sitcom on CBS; rather, it’s when we have a major go-live planned for one of our EMR implementation clients, with multiple modules simulatenouely going into action. We’ve been though a lot of these over the years; in fact, our HIA team has the distinction of having handled the largest simultaneous migration to a new Epic system (three hospitals in a single day), so it’s familiar terrain.
A few weeks ago, we had a ‘Big Bang’ experience with Hilo Medical Center in Hawaii which was notable for several reasons. In addition to being the first EMR implementation for the Hilo organization, it was also the first on the entire ‘big island’ of Hawaii, and one of the first implementations of MEDITECH 6.0 in the entire country. A very big deal for Hilo, for us (as is every client engagement), and for those who follow MEDITECH closely.
Here’s some more insight about the implementation and the other ways (such as wireless managed services, custom eLearning modules) that we’re helping Hilo bring their EMR strategy to the bedside.
